Bantwal, Sep 21: Chandrahas Shetty Bolantur and Kanchalakshi have been elected as president and vice-president of Taluk Panchayat respectively here on Thursday September 20.

Election commissioner Sameer Shukla officiated the election. Out of 33 members in Bantwal Taluk Panchayat, 18 members belong to Congress and 15 are from BJP. 

In the election which was held for these posts earlier, Chandrahas Shetty and Kanchalakshi bagged 18 votes each and Sesappa Gowda and Dharmavati from BJP who contested for the president and vice-president's post got 15 votes each.

Being businessman in profession, Chandrahas has been active in Lions Club and social and religious organizations. 

Kanchalakshi is representing Uli taluk panchayat constituency. She has already served as the president of Gram Panchayat.

Tahshildar C N Manjunath and executive officer Jayasheela Reddy were present on this occasion.
