Mangalore, Sep 21: In the seven Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Dakshina Kannada district, a total of 571 candidates are left on the election front including 238 in the 60 wards of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC).
 
A total of 35 candidates withdrew themselves from the election front under MCC on Thursday September 20, which was the last day for withdrawing nominations, thus leaving 238 candidates in the fray.

A total of 78 candidates are competing in the elections in Ullal town Municipal Council which includes 27 wards. Among 78 candidates, 27 are Congress candidates, 14 BJP candidates, 20 candidates are from JDS, 8 CPM candidates and 9 independent candidates.

In Moodbidri Town Municipal Council which includes 23 wards, a total of 51 contestants are left in fray, of which 22 are from Congress, 6 from BJP, 17 from JD (S), 1 from CPM and 5 independent candidates.

A total of 54 candidates are left on the field, of which 17 are from Congress, 23 candidates are from BJP, 2 from CPI, 1 CPM candidate, 3 candidates from JDS, from Muslim League 2 candidates and 6 independent candidates in Bantwal Town Municipal Council which includes 23 wards.

In Puttur Town Municipal Council which has 27 wards 75 candidates are left of which 27 candidates are from Congress and 27 from BJP, 15 JD (S ) candidates, one from CPM, 2 from BSP and 3 independent candidates.

A total of 34 candidates are in the election front in Beltangady Town Panchayat which includes 11 wards, Among 34 candidates 11 candidates are from Congress and BJP, 7 candidates from JD (S), 2 from CPM and 3 independent candidates.

In Sullia town Panchayat that includes 9 wards, a total of 41 candidates are in the election front. Among 41 candidates 12 are from Congress, 18 from BJP, 4 from JD (S), 2 from CPM and 5 independent candidates.
