Udupi, Sep 15: Dr Champa, the president of Bandaya Sahitya Sammelan addressing media persons here recently stated that everybody had freedom, and if anybody organized the Bandaya Sammelan he would take part in that.
According to him it was he who first laid the foundation for the Bandaya Sahitya Sammelan. And so if somebody wanted to continue the tradition, he would readily support it,” he averred.
However, such Bandaya Sammelans should have certain ideological parameters and be based on evil intents. Sammelans should not be held in more numbers for the good will of the society, he declared.
Further as president of Sahitya Parishat, Dr Champa expressed his satisfaction at its working He even stated that he had the necessary strength and vigour to more work for the Sammelan. Answering his detractors he stated that all those who have ridiculed him as having ‘zero’ achievements, he will give proper information on the last day of his term.
Varied topics will be dealt with at different seminars during the course of the Sammelan to be held from October 25 to 28. There will be no room for confusion. And if there are any problems “I am ready to manage them” Dr Champa averred.
Dr Champa even promised that the said Sammelan will be free of politics. Politicians will be involved only under unavoidable circumstances he clarified and then added that the reception committee of Udupi Sahitya Sammelan has decided to conduct a conference free of politics.
The Sammelan will play host to significant litterateurs and award winners from across the State, to whom invitations have been sent out. The inauguration of the conference will be held after the procession. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will inaugurate the Sammelan. Dignitaries from various fields will be honored on that day. A total of 26 sessions, including separate one for women, will be conducted in four days.
There will be only three resource persons participating in each session, while four scholars will respond to the presentations. Moreover there will be a ‘kavigoshti’ and ‘hanigavana goshti’ which will provide a forum to 30 to 35 poets, Dr Champa informed.
Sahitya Sammrlan general secretary Uppunda Chandrashekhar Holla, secretaries Gananath Ekkaru and Arun Kumar were also present at the press meet.
