Mangalore, Sep 16: The silver jubilee celebration of the Government PU College established in the year 1982 and the golden jubilee celebration of High School established in 1956 of Venur, will be held in November- December 2007, informed Dharanendra Kumar P, zilla panchayat member.

Working president K Shivram Hegde addressing a press meet stated that for holding the celebrations together, a Suvarna Mahotsava Samiti had been constituted with MLA Prabakhar Bangera as honorary president and Dharanendra as president.

Already, 750 students have been enrolled in the school and the school has secured 98 per cent results in SSLC and 90 per cent results in PUC, Hegde informed.

For the golden jubilee celebrations, four classrooms will be reconstructed to accommodate more students and a large playground is being constructed. The expenditure on seating arrangements, hall and other basic facilities is expected to be around Rs 34 lac. The fund for the same will be sought from MLA K Prabhakar Bangera, ZP member P Dharanendra Kumar, MLC Blasius M D’Souza and MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, SKDRDP and Canara Bank.

As part of the celebrations, various sporting competitions, tournaments, athletic meets, folk dance competitions and singing competitions will be organized for the public and old students. Moreover, a souvenir recording the achievements of the school will be brought out on the occasion, stated Hegde.
