Bhatkal / Mangalore, Sep 16:  An essay competition on the topic "Message of peace in the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him)" is organized by the All India Message of Humanity Forum, Bhatkal unit, which is committed to promoting the basic positive values of all religions. With this aim in view and as a primary step in this direction, the forum has decided to hold the essay competition, states a press release from the forum.

According to the forum, this scheme will go a long way in promoting understanding of the basic values and tenets of Islam and help in eliminating misconceptions about the religion stated the release.

The eligibility criteria for the competition are as follows:

• It is open only to non-Muslim participants.
• The essays should be written in either English or Kannada language
• It must contain a minimum of 10 pages, using only A4 size paper sheets

The forum has requested those interested in participating in the competition to immediately enroll by sending their applications to the address given below mentioning their name, age, educational qualification, present occupation, telephone number, e-mail address and complete postal address.

The release further stated that once the candidates are enrolled, certain free literature shedding light on the essay topic will be dispatched to them. The essays must reach the organizers within 60 days after the enrollment. The merit of the essays will be judged by a committee of experts.

The prizes for the winners will be as follows:

First prize: Rs 25,000 cash, second prize: Rs 15,000 cash and third prize: Rs 10,000 cash. Plus special prizes for 12 selected outstanding essays.

All prize-winning essays will be published in the form of books in English, Hindi, Kannada, Urdu and Arabic languages, added the press release.
