Mangalore, Sep 13: Owing to unceasing heavy rains for almost an hour on Wednesday September 12 night, few areas in the city, namely, Alvares road and Kodialbail were inundated, besides flooding low lying areas. A person was injured when the wall of his house collapsed on him near Kadri temple here.

The wall collapsed on the feet of Sanjeev Amin (50), a resident of Kanthappa compound, located near Kadri temple, when he was sleeping at that time.  His ankle was fractured in the incident, sources informed.

Flash floods occur since there is no provision made for the rain water to flow, in many areas across the city.  Houses in Kodialbail area were inundated while the culvert which lies besides T M A Pai Convention Centre was overflowing.  Few automobiles parked nearby were covered in water.  A Gujarathi school that lies in the neighbourhood was also inundated.  Houses located on Alvares road were also inundated.  The fire brigade personnel arrived at both these locations and provided essential services.
