Bangalore, Sep 13: "We believe that India is geared to witness the next boom in outsourcing and emerge as the R&D centre of the world….”, declared Ashutosh Vaidya, vice president, Wipro Personal Computing at the launch of their Wipro Supernova, which is a range of supercomputers and super-storage in India. Wipro is building its Supernova grounds in India, in exclusive partnership with ZRESEARCH, Inc., a California based organization specializing in commoditizing supercomputers and superstorage, informed a press release.

According to the press release, the launching of the Wipro Supernova was announced here on Wednesday, Sept. 12 by Wipro Infotech, the India, Middle East and Asia Pacific IT business unit of Wipro Ltd. (NYSE: WIT). Wipro Supernova includes a complete range of supercomputers with an entry level configuration delivering 1 trillion mathematical calculations per second going up to hundred thousand trillions of calculations per second and super-storage scaling to multiple hundred Petabytes.

Vice president Ashutosh Vaidya speaking at the launch informed that “The trend of leveraging India's skills in engineering and industrial design work along with work in animation design, simulation and modeling and bio-informatics is gaining tremendous momentum. For this, customers require access to sustainable and manageable supercomputing and super-storage infrastructure.” Thus according to Vaidya, Supernova is an answer to that market requirement. 

Anand Babu, co-founder of Z RESEARCH while speaking on the occasion stated that India being   vital market for them, they were excited to bring supercomputing and various storage technology and solutions to India in collaboration with Wipro. He declared “We trust Wipro for their strength in product knowledge, deployment capabilities and support framework in Indian market, while we bring in our domain expertise which has been distilled from years of experience and deployments worldwide at renowned National Laboratories and Fortune 1000 companies." 

Wipro Supernova promises to meet faster data crunching and storage needs of high end scientific research labs in defense, geological surveys, biotechnology, animation and other high end design space, informed the press release in conclusion.
