Udupi, Sep 12: Maitri Youth Club of Kodi Bengre submitted a memorandum to the governor through deputy commissioner on Tuesday September 11 opposing the proposed setting up of coal-based Nagarjuna Thermal Power Plant at Yellur near Padubidri.

They demanded for the full information on Nagarjuna power plant, under the Right for Information Act (RIA). Moreover, they demanded to know, whether the locals are consulted before going ahead with the project, the approval of Central Environment Control Board secured, the studies on bearing capacity of the district are being undertaken, in their memorandum.

Jnanendra Kotian, Ramesh Thingalaya, Vijay Kumar Hegde, Harish Padukere, Nityananda Kemman, Umesh Kotian and others were present in the delegation which submitted the memorandum to the deputy commissioner Ponnuraj.
