Hassan Sep 10: At a press meet called here recently, S Ravi Narayanan, chief executive officer and managing director of Jupiter Aviation, the promoter of the new airport project, informed that the said airport at Hassan, is expected to generate over 5,000 jobs in various sectors.

This 'world-class, all-weather, all-aircraft' airport is expected to gross over $60 million in foreign exchange by 2015. Moreover it will also stimulate socio-economic growth in the Malnad region, informed Narayanan proudly.

According to Narayanan the said airport will generate over Rs100 crore revenue for the state government and will make Hassan a major cargo handling destination through an inland container depot. It will also establish a training centre for pilots, Narayanan added.

In the course of his address Narayanan also mentioned that for facilitating the smooth flow of traffic to the airport by road, from both Mangalore and Bangalore, the Bangalore-Mangalore national highway (NH-48) would be converted into four lanes.
