Udupi, Sep 10: The “Udupi Zilla Kivuda Mattu Mugara Sangha” (UZKMMS) was inaugurated here by Mohan Alva, president of Alva’s Education Trust, here on Sunday, 9 September.
Speaking after inaugurating the UZKMMS, he remarked that it was necessary for society to encourage the physically challenged persons rather than showing sympathy to them.
According to Alva the Government had not given sufficient thought for the welfare of the deaf and dumb people. Hence associations such as UZKMMS had to bear the responsibility of bringing such persons to the mainstream of society, he declared.
President of Udupi district unit of Janata Dal (Secular) Deviprasad Shetty, former governor of Lions District Suresh Shetty, zonal president of Lions Club Shashidhar Shetty, and president of Lions Club of Kaup Yogish Shetty were present on the occasion.
