Sayeed's family vacates chief minister's Jammu residence

Jammu, Jan 28 (IANS): Late Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's family on Wednesday vacated the chief minister's official residence here, official sources said on Thursday.

"Although the family was not living in the Jammu residence of the chief minister, they took out their belongings and formally handed over the possession to the state estates department," the official told IANS here.

Sayeed's family was not living in the Jammu official residence of the chief minister after his death on January 7. Sayeed's final rites were held in his ancestral hometown of Bijbehara in Anantnag district.

His wife Gulshan Ara, son Tasaduq Mufti and daughter Mehbooba Mufti are at present living in the high-security Gupkar Road residence of Sayeed in Srinagar city.

The Gupkar Road residence of the Muftis is not the officially-designated residence of the state chief minister in Srinagar.
