Lala Lajpat Rai's patriotism inspired people: Modi


New Delhi, Jan 28 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tributes to freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai on his 150th birth anniversary, saying his patriotism "inspired people".

"Remembering the courageous Lala Lajpat Rai on his birth anniversary. He was a visionary whose patriotism and ideals inspired many people," Modi tweeted.

The prime minister also shared some handwritten notes of "Punjab Kesari" Lala Lajpat Rai, saying it will interest people.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also paid tributes to the freedom fighter.

"I bow to Lala Lajpat Rai on his 150th birth anniversary. Lalaji ignited the spirit of patriotism in India's youth during freedom struggle," Rajnath said in a tweet.

"Lala Lajpat Rai was a leader of impeccable character who worked tirelessly for the freedom of motherland. I offer my tributes to 'Lalaji'," he tweeted.
