Patna jeweller's shooter arrested


Patna, Jan 23 (IANS): The man who shot dead a city jeweller last week was arrested on Saturday, police said.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said Karmu Rai, who shot dead Ravikant Prasad the owner of Sonali Jewellery last week, has been arrested.

"Police will interrogate him to collect more information to nab notorious gangster Durgesh Sharma, who is the main conspirator behind the killing of the jeweller," he said.

The jeweller was shot dead in broad daylight near Rajapurpool area here after he allegedly refused to pay extortion money to a criminal, police said.

According to police officials, Prasad's family informed police that Sharma had been trying to extort money from him.

"Sharma had threatened to kill him," officials said.
