Mangalore, Sep 8: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Karmika Parishat here has threatened the district police that the city buses in the district will observe a bundh on Sunday, September 9, if the persons accused of assault are not arrested immediately.

Recently, some miscreants assaulted the driver and conductor of a city bus which runs between Mangalore and Surinje. The injured were admitted to a hospital later. In view of this incident, the city bus drivers and conductors staged a protest at Suratkal, on Friday September 7 and demanded the arrest of the miscreants. Even the city buses running between Mangalore-Suratkal-Surinje observed a Bundh for some time on Friday.

Suratkal police station, sub inspector T R Jagannath visited the spot on Saturday and conducted a discussion with the protestors. He assured them that the miscreants will be arrested soon. However, in spite of the assurance the protestors threatened, halt all city buses and observe a Bundh on Sunday, if the accused are not arrested immediately.
