Bangladeshis held for passport forgery

Bhubaneswar, Jan 21 (IANS): Police on Thursday arrested five people, including four Bangladeshis, in Odisha for helping another Bangladeshi man to obtain an Indian passport by furnishing forged documents.

Bangladeshi Mohammad Bashir was taken into custody on Wednesday on charges of furnishing the forged documents to procure a passport at the regional passport office here.

The passport office reported the forgery to the police.

Bashir's arrest led to the other five Bangladeshis, who were thought to have helped him to forge the documents. They were arrested in Jajpur district and brought to Bhubaneswar for questioning, police said.

"We are trying to find out from where the Bangladeshi youth got the documents and for how many days he has been staying here," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Satyabrata Bhoi.
