Beltangady, Sep 7: Many supporters of former chief whip and JD (S) leader, Vasanth Bangera, have officially joined Congress, led by district Congress president, Ramanath Rai. Hundreds of supporters of veteran leader from the urban area, officially joined Congress, during the simple ceremony held at Block Congress office, here, on Wednesday September 5.

“Congress party with its significant presence across the nation stands totally committed for secularism. The communal forces can be curbed only by strengthening Congress party, which does not restrict itself to religion, caste or language”, former minister Ramanath Rai said.

“The dissidents of Congress, who deserted the party due to various reasons, are accepted once again into its fold.  Further, the strengthening of secular forces is most essential in the prevailing situation. Moreover they are to be treated in par with other activists”, Rai said.

JD (S) chief secretary, Gracious Veigas, Narayan Bhat Muguli, Sanjeev Poojary Kodange, Kishore Kumar Kurudya, Vithal C Poojary, Ajith Kumar Ullal, Ummar Kunhi, Satish Kumar Venoor, Renuka, Kittanna Shetty, Ajit Kumar, Haletti Akbar Ali, Sukesh Kumar Savanalu, Mohan Bangera Kede, Bhagiratha, N G Thotatthady, Sitaram Gowda, Padmayya Gowda, Sadanand Poojary, Sebastian, Sridar Poojary, Isubu, Ramesh Bangera, Deekayya D, Jaya Kumar, Govardhan and others joined Congress.

Congress leaders, Mohammed M S, Block Congress president, Harish Kumar, Rajashekar Azri, Zilla Panchayat member Shahool Hameed, Taluk Panchayat member, Kiran Kumar, Vasanth Poojary, P K Raju Poojary, Ummer Kunhi Musliar, were present.
