Mangalore, Sep 7: The bidi industry is fading away and in such a situation  the workers of the industry who are jobless can be effectively diverted to the textile sector to build up the integrated textile park, said joint director of District Industries Centre S G Hegde here on Thursday, September 6.

He was speaking at the one-day industrial motivation and awareness on Apparel Park at Kanara Chember of Commerce and industry (KCCI). Addressing the gathering he said that there was a lot of scope for readymade garments now and any group who ventures into this market will be suitably supportedby the government and various agencies. He also said that the Dakshina Kannada has best infrastructure for the industrial ventures in the state.

The Programme was inaugurated by KCCI president Capt John Prasad Menezes inaugurated.

Hegde also gave information on the government policies aimed at helping industries by Hegde. Sanjeev Naik from Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) gave a presentation on the working and structure of the small-scale industrial units.
