Mangalore, Sep 6: A four year product supply agreement has been signed by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemical Ltd (MRPL) with Shell India Marketing private Ltd, stated a press release here.

MRPL MD R Rajamani and Shell India MD Suriderdeep Singh signed the agreement in New Delhi here on Wednesday, 5 Sept in the presence of MRPL chairman R S Sharma and the chairman of Shell group of companies in India Vikram Singh Mehta. 

The agreement is signed to supply products for four years and is extendable for two more years. This will include the supply of product like all grades of MS and HSD. 

Speaking on the occasion MRPL chairman R S Sharma said that this agreement underlines the basic philosophy of ONGC group of companies to work in partnership with the best companies in the world. In addition to the commercial viability of the agreement MRPL will also stand to gain from the rich experience and expertise of the Shell in product handling the distribution, Sharma informed. 

The new agreement will be set in motion from October 2007 and covers not just fuel supply but also infrastructure sharing, cooperation on health security, safety, environmental management procedures and practices.

Senior officials such as MRPL director (Finance), L K Gupta AVP (Marketing) Vanita Kumar, director (Human Resources), Dr A K Balyan director (Offshore), N K Mitra, director (Exploration) D K Pande and U N Bose director ONGC (Technical and Field Services), U N Bose were present.

Whereas the Shell side was represented by Cesar Romero vice-president (Supply) of Shell Eastern Petroleum Ltd in Singapore and Wael Sawan  general manager of Shell International Petroleum Company Ltd in London.
