Mangalore, Sep 3: V Amar, V Ruthmisha, Ashwini Ponnappa and Adithya R Prakash bagged top place in singles in the Dix Shipping state badminton championship.  V Amar defeated Mohith Kamath 25-23, 21-18 in straight sets on the finals of men’s singles held on Sunday September 2, while Ruthmisha defeated former champion M Nishmitha 21-12, 21-13in the women's singles championship.

Adithya R Prakash, the numero uno in the boys' division defeated fourth ranked Prakash Jolly 21-12, 21-13.

Ashwini's significant achievement:

Ashwini Ponnappa defeated Ruthmisha, the former champion in girls' singles.  Ashwini defeated Ruthmisha 21-15, 21-13 in straight sets and bagged the championship. 

Doubles final results:

Ashwini Ponnappa and Nithya Ghosale defeated G M Nishmitha and Varsha V B 21-10, 18-21, 21-16, in women’s doubles. 

Vineeth Manuel and Arun Vishnu defeated Mohith Kamath and Phalgun 21-18, 21-13 in the men's doubles tournament.  Dhruv Shanbagh and Darshan Kulkarni defeated Anoop Kiran and Pratheek Khurana 7-21, 21-12, 21-15 in boys' division.

Ashwini Ponnappa and Vineeth Manuel defeated V Ruthmisha and Prakash Jolly 21-7, 23-25, 21-8 in mixed doubles.

Seniors' Group:

K P Vasanth Kumar defeated Jayaram Pai 21-19, 23-21, in senior singles' event.  K P Vasant Kumar and Jayaram Pai defeated Ramakrishna and Sydney 21-8, 21-16, in men's doubles.
