Pakistan's 'unconditional support' to Saudi Arabia

Islamabad, Jan 8 (IANS): Pakistan has expressed "unconditional support" to Saudi Arabia, which is embroiled in a tense standoff with Iran, and a counter-terrorism coalition Riyadh is setting up.

Pakistan on Thursday reiterated its support during Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir's visit to Islamabad for discussions on his country's diplomatic row with Iran and the multinational coalition against terrorism it has announced, Dawn online reported.

Pakistan will always support Saudi Arabia against any threat to its integrity and sovereignty, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif told Al-Jubeir.

The two sides discussed regional and global issues of common concern and agreed to promote multi-faceted cooperation.

Al-Jubeir's visit to Islamabad was postponed from Sunday to Thursday due to protests against the execution of Saudi dissident and Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqir Al-Nimr.
