Mangalore, Aug 31: A talk on ‘How to Remain Healthy and Active, after Retirement’ was held at Vishwas Day-Care Centre, Valencia here on Thursday August 30 evening.  The programme was organized by social workers of Vishwas, Chrysle Goveas and Sr Jacintha, with the help of M S W students of Roshni Nilaya, School of Social Work, Karavali College.

Leena Fernandes, retired principal of St Aloysius evening college, Dr Olinda Pereira, director of Vishwas, were the resource persons.

About 25 senior citizens from Valencia attended the talk. Devaki welcomed.  Fr Rezinald graced the occasion and prayed over.

Speaking on the occassion, Leena Fernandes said, "We usually say that we have retired from service.  However it is not right on our part to say so.  The retiring from service does not mean we retired from active life.  We do not discard our car tyre when it is worn out.  Instead we retread and use it.  We should not worry over our age. We should think that we are young in heart.  We have to narrate our past experience with our children in lucid manner.  We lack the knowledge of operating mobiles and computers.  But they have no idea of our past experiences."

One should not let the children to have all his/her money.  Rather one should keep enough for the future while the rest can be given to the children, she added.

Vivek proposed vote of thanks. Social worker, Chrysle compered the programme.
