Kargil shivers at minus 15 degrees Celsius


Srinagar, Jan 1 (IANS): At minus 15 degrees Celsius, Jammu and Kashmir's Kargil town recorded the lowest night temperature in the state on Friday, the Met Office said.

According to the weather office, the minimum temperature was minus 0.7 here, minus 2.4 in Pahalgam, minus 5.6 in Gulmarg, minus 13.3 in Leh town and minus 15.0 in Kargil town of Ladakh region.

In the Jammu region, the minimum temperature was 8.3 in Jammu city, 10.0 in Mata Vaishno Devi base camp town of Katra, 5.3 in Batote, 3.2 in Bannihal, 2.6 degrees Celsius in Bhaderwah and 5.6 in Udhampur town.

The weather office has a forecast cloudy, but dry weather till Sunday.
