Some respite from cold in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Dec 30 (IANS): People across Uttar Pradesh have got some respite from the chilly conditions, owing to the sunny weather over the past few days.

The regional Met Office here said the minimum temperature in the state capital and most parts of Uttar Pradesh has climbed a few notches in the initial part of this week.

Lucknow recorded 8.8 degrees Celsius, around three degrees above the season's normal. The maximum temperature is hovering at around 24 degrees Celsius, adding to the respite from the intense cold conditions sweeping the state over the last one week.

Met officials also said due to sunny days, foggy conditions have also been reduced to an extent.

They, however, sounded a word of caution that in the coming days, snow-laden winds from hills, which are witnessing heavy snowfall, would bring back the chill.

School timings for senior classes have been changed in many districts owing to the persistent cold conditions.
