Lashkar may target PM, Parliament building: Intelligence alert

New Delhi, Dec 30 (HT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Parliament building, Indian Army headquarters at South Block and nuclear facilities across the country could be attacked by the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) during New Year, intelligence agencies have said.

Reports said the inputs warn that at least 20 terrorists may have entered the country from across the border to carry out suicide strikes at the biggest targets possible.

On Tuesday, the Centre had asked all states to be extra vigilant so that they can thwart any terrorist attack, particularly at popular tourist destinations, during the New Year festivities.

Intelligence agencies have also issued a country-wide advisory asking all states to deploy additional forces in crowded places to foil bid by terrorists to carry out attacks, reported India Today. Police forces of major cities had been asked to be extra vigilant during the upcoming New Year celebrations, said intelligence officials.

The advisory came after intelligence inputs suggested that Pakistan-based terror groups may launch an attack and also warned that there is a threat of lone-wolf attacks by those radicalised and inspired by the Islamic State.

This type of threat cannot be taken light. However, there is no sea or boat in Delhi to travel. In the wake of such threat, Govt. should think of building high security and sophisticated Parliament building in future. I wish such type of threat should be dealt with iron fist and intelligently.

    Ananta,

The threat/damage would have been alleviated to some extent if the PM candidate had kept his wagging tail in control against Congress.

Now, you as a fellow DW reader sustain - PM will least get a wind of what is happening here !

When the government changed in May 2014, I envisaged a drastic end to LET or other similar organization by the 56" bearer. Well, I assumed based on his election campaign bellowing.

However, that did not happen even after his 18 months in the office but the big mouth sneaked slyly into Pak to attend a wedding in his counterpart's family. Sneaked - exactly. Won't the citizens know where/when their PM will be during a foreign tour ?

Polarity - what else could it be ? Now, live with threats of possible attacks ! Deserve no better !

LET is in pakistan for your information and not in india.as far as internal security is concerned ,india have not seen a single major terrorist attacks in modis 18 months of rule.who knows how many attacks have been prevented by central govt in these 18 months.this can be done only people who have 56 inch chest.during previous govt rule ,people use to read in newspapers, arround 10-12 bomb blast in various parts of the country every year, not to forget mumbais 26/11 .but this is not the case now.

Oh.. Is LET really in Pak ? Then, is that the reason why Modi slyly sneaked into Pak for a marriage in Sharif's family instead of going on a publicly announced trip ?

    Thank you for the enlightenment...
