Kundapur, Aug 30: Dr K S Karanth, the eminent psychiatrist of the city has been elected as the state president of Indian Psychiatric Society (IPS).
Dr Karanth is known to be a multifaceted personality with versatile interests. He has been the ex-vice-president of state IMA, founder secretary of Udupi psychiatric society, governing council member of state IMA AMS and the convenor of ‘Patients' Rights Protection Committee’, first-of-its kind in India.
He is the first-ever psychiatrist from coastal region to lead the apex body and assumed the office during the annual conference of psychiatrists that was held recently at Belgaum.
