Rain, snowfall likely in Himachal


Shimla, Dec 26 (IANS): There might be a few spell of rains and snow across Himachal Pradesh till Sunday, the Met Office said here.

"There are chances of more rainfall and snowfall in the state by Sunday," a Met official told IANS.

According to weather office, the western disturbances - storm systems originating from Caspian Sea and moving across the Afghanistan-Pakistan region - would be active again in the region from Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the mercury across the state rose much to respite of people.

Most of the prominent tourist towns like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Manali and Dalhousie, located in mid-hills, may witness moderate snowfall, he said.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest place in the state with the minimum temperature of minus 5.7 degree Celsius against Friday's minus 10.9 degrees.

The minimum temperature in Shimla was recorded at 6.4 degrees. It saw a low of 2.5 degrees on Friday.

Kalpa in Kinnaur district recorded a low of minus 2.2 degree, while it was 1.2 degrees at Dalhousie, 4.6 degrees at Dharamsala and minus 1.8 degree Celsius in Manali.
