Three Kerala men tortured In Saudi Arabia return home

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 26 (NDTV): Three Indian men, who were physically tortured by their employer in Saudi Arabia, returned to India early morning today after being rescued from a brick factory in Abha.

A horrifying video of three Indians being beaten brutally by their employer had evoked strong reactions in Kerala. In the video, the Saudi man could be seen beating the three men with a wooden club.

The men, Abhishek, Vimal and Baiju, who are from Haripad town in north Kerala, had forwarded the video to their family members, with an appeal for help.

"I went there with lots of dream... now I don't know what I will do...need money to build a house , loans to be paid off," said 21-year-old Abhishek, a trained electrician who was cheated on the pretext of job and was forced to work in a brick factory.

It's the same story for 29-year-old Baiju, a pumber and 30-year-old Vimal.

Last time these Kerala mothers saw their sons was in a video that showed them being brutally beaten by their employer, around a week back.

Today, it was an emotional reunion at Trivandrum airport, Vimal's mother Ommanna K said: "Thank you for bringing back my son. I pray for a long life and health for him."

The case has been registered against the local job agent who allegedly promised the three men jobs in Yemen as electricians. But they were duped and taken to Abha in Saudi Arabia, where they were forced to work in a brick manufacturing company.

Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had assured that the issue would be taken up with the authorities and the men will be back home soon.

"We reported this to Saudi Police. We are in touch with Indian workers. They will be back in India within a week," she had tweeted.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had also assured their return within two days.

Many persons from Kerala go to middle-east with promises of jobs with the help of middlemen, which lays them open to trafficking.

We do not know for what reason they were beaten by saudi man. As per my knowledge of many years they will not beat for refusing to work. They will beat brutally when caught selling illicit liquors, sex racket, cheating the company by stealing etc... as some nationals even from India do business to get richer fast. anyway the incident is unfortunate and the matter has to eb investigated. If the employer is guilty he has to be punished by putting pressure on saudi government by Indian government.

The good worker in Kerala can easily earn up to Rs.1000/ day in their own state. The salary in Kerala is much more than any of the Gulf countries pays for a casual labourers. The working conditions are good and employees in Kerala are treated better. The problem is some Keralites and people of Mangalore and Udupi wants to Drink and make politics in their home land and when in gulf they work like slaves. Change the mentality and you can survive with dignity in your home land. stop drinking and work minimum for 10hrs 6 days and week and you can surely built better house in India.
