Mangalore, Aug 28: The Karnataka State Under-7 chess championship was organised by the United Karnataka Chess Association (UKCA) at the State youth centre in Bangalore here, on Sunday, August 28.

At the championship Sharan Rao and Rahul Peter of the DCS led the table till fith round, but in the last two rounds Rahul lost the match while Sharan Rao scored 5 points in 6 rounds. He would represent Karnataka in the forthcoming under-7 National Chess Championship which will be held in Lucknow from October 29, 2007.

Sharan is studying in the second standard in St Theresa English Convent School and he is the son of Shubhaananda Rao and Jyothi Rao. 

Derick Chess School has helped the district to retain the title for the third consecutive year in a row informed Derick Pinto and Prasanna in a press release.
