Mangalore, Aug 28:  Announcing Corp Compassion Awards, B Sambamurthy, chairman and managing director of the bank said that the recently concluded ‘Corp Compassion Campaign’ had received an overwhelming response from the public.

The CMD proudly announced that in a limited span of 70 days, over 3.6 lac customers have opened savings bank account with the bank.

The bank will be donating a sum of Rs 10 for every new account opened to charitable institutions especially for the cause of underprivileged, on behalf these customers as was decided earlier by the bank. Greatly encouraged by the response, the bank will extend the Corp Compassion to new current accounts also opened during the next five weeks starting Monday August 27.

Similar to the savings scheme, Sambamurthy declared that the bank will be donating Rs 25 for every new current account opened during the above period, to the cause of the underprivileged.

On the occasion the winners H S Saini, deputy general manager, Hyderabad Zone, and others received the Corp Compassion Award from Sambamurthy. The bank will as per prior decision, shortly transfer the amount collected under Corp Compassion to the charitable institutions so chosen, the CMD assured.

Brief Minutes of the meeting: The zonal managers’ conference assessed the performance of the bank so far, during the current financial year and chalked out business strategies for the remaining period of the year. The bank’s deposits registered a growth of 28%, with the bank’s total business growing by 22% on a year on year basis.

In keeping with its long term strategy to expand its horizons and establish a presence nation wide, the bank, opened 78 branches in the last 12 month period ending June 30, 2007.

Moreover on the anvil are plans to open 75 more branches during the current financial year, thus crossing the network strength of 1,000 branches and having 1,000 ATMs all over the country. The meeting also discussed strategies on cross-selling of its host of personal banking products to its customers. It was also decided to launch a customer loyalty programme very soon.
