Konkans Ireland celebrates Christmas

Ireland, Dec 22: Konkans Ireland celebrated Christmas recently at Clane GAA Club with much enthusiasm and grandeur.

The programme began with a prayer song by Shobha and Roshan Vas. The highlight of the programme was the beautiful tableau 'The birth of Jesus Christ' presented under the leadership of Alwin Fernandes.

More than eighteen participants acted in this tableau which depicted the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem and the importance of Mother Mary.

After the tableau, the programme continued with Christmas carols, followed by appearance of Santa with gifts and sweets. Various cultural activities by children and adults enthralled the gathering, so also jokes by committee members Vijay, Santosh and Alwyn Fernandes.

Election had been held for 2016 Konkan's Ireland association where four groups were formed for Easter, picnic, Monthi Fest and Christmas. The 2015 financial review and report was presented by Ashok Cutinho. For the first time in Ireland, Konkani telefilm 'Manasa' was released by Roshan Vaz, Ashok Cutino and Alwyn Fernandes.

Konkan families in Ireland shared their delicious kuswar with each other and delicious Mangalurean food was served by Gregory. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Satish. The entire programme was hosted by Anne Simon and Alwyn Fernandes.
