Mamata Banerjee alleges death threat to trinamool lawmaker Sudip Bandyopadhyay

Kolkata, Dec 22 (Agencies): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has alleged in a series of tweets that her party's senior lawmaker Sudip Bandyopadhyay has been threatened.

The Chief Minister said Mr Bandyopadhyay, who is the leader of the Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha, had messaged her that he was getting death threats.

She said she had asked him to file an FIR or First Information Report and send a copy to Kolkata. She had also advised that he should go to Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

"They are threatening Sudip to kill him in Delhi and dispose him off in Kolkata. This is intolerance. Never seen such violence before," said a tweet on the Chief Minister's official account.

"If they do not want Opposition to speak, let them impose Emergency. I have asked Sudip Da to raise the issue in Lok Sabha," she tweeted, adding that "voices cannot be muzzled in a democracy."
