Rain, snowfall likely in Kashmir


Srinagar, Dec 22 (IANS): There might be a few spells of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, the Met office said here.

"Light rain and snow is likely to occur in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours starting Tuesday morning," the official said.

"The minimum temperature improved from minus 5.6 degree to 0.1 degree Celsius in Srinagar today. In Pahalgam, the minimum temperature was 2.1 and in Gulmarg it was minus 10.0 degree Celsius."

The official said the improvement in minimum temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir was due to the nightlong cloud cover.

"In the Jammu region, the minimum temperature was 6.4 in Jammu city, 6.7 in Katra town, 1.7 in Batote, 0.2 in Bannihal and in Bhaderwah it was 0.1 degree Celsius", the official said.
