Woman tweets to Railway Minister after finding occupied seat

Patna, Dec 21 (DHNS): A woman passenger, travelling from Patna to New Delhi by Shramjeevi Express, complained directly to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu when she saw that the berth she was allotted was “captured” by a group of students who were travelling up to Lucknow.

These students, none of them bonafide passengers, were travelling by Shramjeevi Express to Uttar Pradesh to appear in the Staff Selection Commission examination (SSC), slated for Sunday.

But having boarded the reserved compartment and forcefully occupied the berths allotted to bonafide passengers, the students crossed the limit of all decency when they started harassing the young woman passenger.

Undaunted, the woman tweeted to Suresh Prabhu, complaining to the minister how not only her berth had been forcibly occupied by the SSC examinees, but also she was being harassed by the lecherous lot. No sooner she tweeted to the Railway minister, the security personnel from Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police were asked by the top railway mandarins to rush to help the aggrieved woman.

IT HAS BEEN VERY BAD EXPERIENCE TO TRAVEL IN SLEEPER CLASS OUTSTATION TRAINS.WAIT LISTED PEOPLE OCCUPY THE VACANT PLACE IN RESERVED COMPARTMENTS AND MAKE OUR JOURNEY UNCOMFORTABLE.THEY SLEEP AT PASSAGE AND SOMETIMES THERE IS LITTLE WAY TO MOVE.PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONFIRMED TICKETS AND BERTHS ARE NOT COMFORTABLE AT ALL.RAILWAYS SHOULD TAKE CARE OF GENUINE PASSENGERS AND MAKE THEIR JOURNEY HAPPY AND COMFORTABLE.THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. OFTEN I HAVE SEN FIGHTS AND ARGUMENTS BETWEEN CONFIRMED TICKET PASSENGERS AND WAIT LISTED PASSENGERS BUT RAILWAY AUTHORITIES ARE NOT BOTHERED.

Good to note the timely response of the department. It is not good practice to approach the Minister to all these things for which there are departments in the Railways to attend.

Now this has become a trend and if it continues very soon Railway Minister will stop responding. Only serious issues should be complained directly to ministers..... Why other officers are been paid ??

let this continue for some time. then things will steabilize and minister may not get to hear much and the officers must also be alert seeing all these happening. Minister can also cross verify on these instances why the officers were negligence on these problems faced by public. So many things can be adopted with this system in place... Well done Govt.
