Four people from missing boat found alive in Indonesia

Jakarta, Dec 20 (IANS): Four people from a boat, which was missing off Sulawesi Island with more than 100 people aboard, were found alive, an Indonesian rescue official said on Sunday.

They were discovered in Bone Gulf waters off South Sulawesi in central Indonesia, Andi Sultan, a coordinator of search and rescue operation in Bone district, said.

"The survivors include a boy, an old lady and two men," Sultan told Xinhua by phone from South Sulawesi.

"All of them have been sent to Siwa Hospital," he added.

But he said the boat carrying 108 passengers and 10 crew members has not been found after it was hit by a storm near the Bone Strait.

The ship was sailing from Kolaka in Southeast Sulawesi to Siwa in South Sulawesi.
