Mangalore, Aug 25: The government has increased the compensation amount for the victims of natural calamities from the Calamity Relief Fund, informed Suratkal MLA Krishna J Palemar here, on Friday August 24.

Addressing media persons he explained that the said compensation is paid in the form of cash to the next of kin of those who died and those who suffered crop or property loss. However he stated that though the compensation amount had been fixed five years ago but it was not reflected in present day realities.

A request has been made to Jagadish Shetter to revise the amount and the government’s attention has been drawn towards this matter. The revision has been announced by the State government accordingly, stated Palemar.
