Mangalore, Aug 24: The officers of the Department of Mining and Geology recovered 11 trucks that were transporting manganese ore to NMPT by using counterfeit permits.  This was detected when the ore laden trucks arrived at Mukka check post from Bellary, on Wednesday August 22.

The department got the scent of fake permits when two trucks arrived with permits bearing the same number simultaneously.  Those who forged the permit or who made the photocopy of the permit are likely to be arrested since it was an organized gang who were responsible in draining the state exchequer.

Recently, two trucks were seized by the department officers, while the truck drivers, transporters and owners managed to secure bail.

Small-time transport operators are taking the risk on transporting manganese ore on fake permits, since only government approved transporters are eligible to secure permits.
