Karkala, Aug 24: The police led by ASP Labu Ram have arrested 6 notorious robbers in a hotel at Bajagoli near here on Tuesday August 22 night.  The police have seized 2 vehicles and sabres from the arrested.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Hanif (30), son of Ammbba Beary of Koppa, Sadhik (25), son of Mohammad Sayyad of Kadoor in Chikmagalur, Anand alias Vikas (30), son of Ellappa of Shimoga, Chandru (23), son of Rajappa of Kadoor in Chikmagalur, Sidharaj (25), son of Erappa in Hassan and Asif (23), son of Moidinabba of Muloor in Kaup near Udupi.

Out of them Mohammad Hanif has been history rowdy-sheeter and was prime accused in the murder of Venkatesh of Theerthahalli.  However, he had managed to escape from police custody while he was admitted to hospital.  Thereafter his name was linked with duplicate passport case in Mumbai, a robbery case in Bhadravati, some theft cases in Shiggao, Harihar and Hosanagar.

Another arrested Sadhik too has been facing cases in Andhra Pradesh, Hosanagar, Shiggao, Chikmagalur and other places. The police have seized an Innova and Honda City cars along with chilly powder and sabre.

Police sources said that they were staying in a lodge at Bajagoli for the past 3 days.  Once police received a tip-off, police went to the lodge to enquire about them.  However, they were out of the lodge and were having food in a nearby Chinese Restaurant.  Police with the help of public surrounded the place and arrested them.  Sources said that the arrested had made plans to rob Sai Kripa Jewellers.
