Udupi, Aug 24: Koraga, a Scheduled Caste and backward class team has been trained on the folk art of the region- Yakshagana- by ‘Spoorthy,’ an NGO working for the destitute children, at Kedoor in Kundapura taluk.

Arrangatrum of the first ever Koraga’s Yakshagana was held recently on Independence Day. As many as 11 Koraga children, eight SC and other interested fellow hostelites of Spoorthy staged the Yakshagana ‘prasanga’, ‘Yakshotthamara Kalaga,’ based on the story of ‘Druva Nakshathra.’

Spoorthy head Keshava Koteshwara told Express, ‘‘Whenever these children presented cultural programmes, it had a background of Yakshagana’’.
