Government shelling kills 28 in Syria

Damascus, Dec 13 (IANS): Syrian shelling on rebel-held areas east of the capital Damascus killed 28 people on Sunday, a monitor group reported.

The shelling targeted areas in the eastern countryside of Damascus, mainly the rebel stronghold of Douma, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The government shelling came against the backdrop of the intensified rebel mortar shelling against several districts of the capital on Sunday.
