President greets Kenya on Independence Day


New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday extended his greetings to the people of Kenya on their Independence Day.

"It gives me immense pleasure to extend to you and to the people of the Republic of Kenya my warm felicitations and best wishes on the occasion of 52nd anniversary of your Independence Day," Mukherjee said in his message to his Kenyan counterpart Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.

He said: "The warm and friendly relations between India and Kenya have evolved through the centuries into a multi-sectoral partnership, encompassing cooperation at bilateral, regional and international levels".

Mukherjee said he was confident about cooperation between the two countries which will be further strengthened in the coming years to the mutual benefit.

Kenya, is a country in East Africa, celebrates its Independence Day on December 12.
