New Delhi, Dec 10 (IANS): A Delhi woman in her early 20s on Thursday gave birth to a child in a taxi on her way to a hospital, hospital authorities said.
According to them, the woman, a resident of south Delhi's Deoli area, started suffering from labour pain in the afternoon. However, instead of an ambulance, her family members called a taxi.
"Though the woman along with two of her family members was in the texi, her labour worsened, following which the driver had to stop the cab. The woman delivered her child in the back seat of taxi only," said an official of Safdarjung Hospital, where the mother and her child were later admitted.
According to the hospital authorities, both the child and the mother are healthy and have been discharged now.
