Delhi to run 6,000 extra buses from January 1

New Delhi, Dec 10 (IANS): Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday announced that 6,000 extra public transport buses will be run in the city from January 1 to 15, when the government plans to selectively push private vehicles off road.

The city government has decided that private vehicles with odd and even registration numbers will ply in the city on odd and even dates respectively from January 1.

"About 50 percent of the seats in 2,000 CNG school buses will be reserved for women. The 'puchho app' will launched to help the commuters and people can download this on 25th of this month (December)," Rai added.

He said during that period, one auto can be run by two drivers, which would enable the autos to run for a longer duration.
