Udupi, Aug 20: The week-long Yakshagana conference ‘Yaksha Sandhya-07’, jointly organized by Sri Arate Yakshahana Mela and Paryaya Krishnapura Mutt at Rajangana of Sri Krishna Temple was inaugurated here on Sunday, August 19.

Speaking on the occasion Paryaya Krishnapura Mutt Swamiji Vidyasagara Theertha expolated “Mind will always thrive for knowledge. By depicting legendary concepts through art one can easily influence the mind” he averred. 

According to him one can easily influence the mind by portraying renowned notions through art form.

He opined that although people were earlier uneducated in the olden days, they were ethnically rich as they were exposed to art and traditions.

Lalaji R Mendona, MLA of Kaup, Manjunath Upadhya, former president of Rotary Club Parkala and Gulme Krishna Naik from Manipal were the chief guests. Madhav Shenoy Manipal, amateur Yakshagana artist was honoured on this occasion. 

Vinay Kumar Sorake former MP of Udupi presided over the programme. Arate Manjunatha director of the Yaksha Sandhya Saptaha and state awardee Yakshagana artiste made the introductory speech. S V day Kumar Shetty lecturer welcomed the gathering.
