Don't learn 'wrong lessons' from Pakistan: Rahul to Govt

New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI): Rahul Gandhi today launched a scathing attack on the Government on the issue of intolerance telling it not to learn the "wrong lessons" from Pakistan and pleaded that it should listen to the people who have been "disturbed" over recent incidents.

"People like Narayana Murthy, Raghuram Rajan and P M Bhargava are among the many protesting... They are disturbed like millions of other people. Respect them and try to understand what is disturbing them. Go and listen to them," he said speaking on the debate of intolerance in the Lok Sabha.

The Congress Vice President's speech was repeatedly interrupted by BJP members, especially when he targeted Union Minister V K Singh who, he alleged, had likened two Dalit children in Haryana who were burnt to dogs to dogs. This was strongly contested by the BJP members. The Minister was not present in the House.

"Our Prime Minister allowed this man to continue as Minister. Ambedkar spent his entire life ....and wrote the Constitution so that the two children are not burnt. The Prime Minister is unable to see this contradiction," he said amid cries of 'shame-shame' from the Opposition benches.

"I request Government, please do not learn the wrong lessons from Pakistan. Be tolerant. Listen to your people, embrace your own people. Mahatma Gandhi gave voice to the people.

"Pakistan became a failure because their leaders crushed voices of their people...were intolerant. Let us not learn the wrong lessons," he said.

Gandhi regretted that the Prime Minister remained silent after the Dadri lynching incident despite the fact that the son of the person killed is an air force personnel. "The ultimate responsibility for his protection is with the Prime Minister who remained silent", he remarked.

Wrongly written speech. It should have been "Pakistan became a failure because majority crushed the voices of minorities with state patronage" and still continues to do the same, which is real visible, intolerance.

The media is very much biased in favour of Rahul Gandhi and gives importance to all the rubbish utterances of his against Modi. He is no match for Modi the statesman. The media should act in more mature and responsible way. Dreadful will be the years when this country will be governed by a moron called RG. Someone from congress is misleading this confused individual who is exposing himself as more of a joker and thereby harming himself and his decades old party which is like a rudderless ship. He also makes fun of Modi's foreign trips. The media however is always silent about Sonia's innumerable trips abroad at the expense of taxpayers' money. The media also doesnt mind the frequent trips to pakistan by some of the congis who are out to destroy the reputation of the country.

Yes, true. Congress is trying their level best with any sources ( could be anti nation also ) to get modi and national development stopped. Can't Modi ( PM of India ) take action against these people like Aiyyar / Taroor and all for their anti national moves and put them behind bars. Forget about congress or opposition, they are getting in to anti national activities .... with stupid reason being targeting Modi. I appreciate PM / President take strict action against these. May be on Sonia or Rahul also if they go beyond a limit.

With fake promises and nothing coming on their way, many within RSS/BJP itself are feeling betrayed and ignored. Naturally, their reaction is to get attention.
Any sensible govt. would try to contain such elements. But, for BJP and Modi they are the peope who get majority of votes for BJP. They can not be contained neither deciplined.

The entire debate on intolerance is hidden in this issue. When the BJP govt., tries to appease the section of its vote bank. That annoys the majority of citizes of India. They are quite vocal about it.

BJP is trying its best to keep the pot boiling to divert the attention from boiling issues of governance, joblessness, poverty, farmers sucide etc.,

BJP has ignored but if it continues to ignore anymore, Rahul will be proved right, as BJP will make in india, a situation like pakistan.

The father founder of BJP Mr Advani is a Pakistani hence its natural for the party to inherit qualities of that country. What is right for Indians is wrong for BJP and vice versa. So, for BJP they are teaching the right lesson to Indians. Hence the conclusion is BJP is Anti-India.
