Mangalore, Aug 19: Touching on the topic of Rangamandira, a long-cherished dream of the people of Dakshina Kannada, district-in-charge minister B Nagaraj Shetty informed here recently, that the foundation stone for the proposed Rangamandira will be laid on the auspicious Vijayadashami,day.

Addressing the said meet, Shetty called upon the zilla panchayat executive engineers to speed up the process of getting relevant technical approval for the Rangamandira structural design from the chief executive engineer. And set the deadline for completing the tender processing work latest by Vijayadashami.

Whilst referring to the matter of cleaning up the site meant for the Rangamandira by MCC, the MCC administrator M Maheshwar Rao agreed to take-up the cleaning process work as early as possible. Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishath president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura too promised to put up two boards at the site.

Giving out the financial details of the project, the deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao informed that the estimated cost of Rangamandira is Rs 15.5 crore. With the district administration already having a sum of Rs. 1 crore in its kitty, District Kannada Sahitya Parishath having agreed to give Rs. 1 crore, a sum of Rs. 3 crore will be sought from the government. Moreover MRPL too has agreed to give a sum of Rs. 5 crore for the project. The remaining balance will be covered by public donations and funds added Rao.

He further stated that the maintainence work of the Rangamandira for five years, will be undertaken by MRPL. Zilla Panchayat CEO A M Kunjappa, District Kannada Sahitya Parishath president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Tulu Sahitya Academy president M K Seetharam Kulal amongst others were present at the meet.
