Mangalore, Aug 18: The state government of has completely failed to do justice to the farmers of arecanut in Dakshina Kannada district, said Bondala Jagannath Shetty president of Dakshina Kannada District Youth Congress in a press conference here on Saturday August 18.

He further said that the government has been unable to supply the pesticide at reasonable rate. The rate fixed by the department of agriculture is costlier than the rate fixed in the open market, he added.

The district leaders of BJP have kept quiet as if they are not aware of the happenings, he alleged. The silence is absolutely paradoxical to the response of the leaders in the pre-election days when they were never passive listeners of the complaints regarding the arecanuts, he said.

He further said that blood donation camp will be organized at Beltangady. Fruits will be distributed to the patients at the various hospitals of Kadaba Puttur as a part of the celebrations of 64th Birthday of Rajeev Gandhi.

In the upcoming local-body elections young candidates will be given importance. Candidates will be chosen based on the opinion by booth committees which will be constituted by the locals, he informed.

AC Vinay Raj, chief secretary of Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress and Billal, vice-president were present at the press meet.
