Soldier slips to death on LoC


Srinagar, Nov 30 (IANS): An Indian soldier, deployed on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district, on Sunday slipped and fell to his death into a gorge, a defence official said.

Sepoy Surinder of Rajput Regiment died after he lost balance and fell into the gorge during patrolling duty near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector in Kupwara, a defence spokesman said here.

He was rescued and taken to a hospital, but he died before reaching there, doctors said.

A resident of Indore, Surinder had joined the army last year.
