Mangalore, Aug 17: The scrap which was stored in front of the shops at Bibi Alabi Road in the city was cleared by the MCC authorities on Thursday August 16 noon. 

The operation was carried out as per the order of the district commissioner M Maheshwar Rao who is present administrator of MCC.

The locals including shopkeepers were complaining the deputy commissioner about the inconvenience caused owing to dumping the scrap on the road. Even a former corporator had also expressed his concern in this regard. Hence, the deputy commissioner called the meeting of scrap merchants’ on Tuesday August 14.

The scrap was cleared on Thursday as per the decision taken at that meeting. Majority of the merchants cooperated for this operation since the deputy commissioner has assured them of making alternate arrangement for storing the scrap.
