Panaji, Aug 16: Congress woman legislator Victoria Fernandes, who had resigned during the formation of BJP-led Goa Democratic alliance, has moved an application before the speaker for the withdrawal of the same.

Fernandes' move came two days after two or three legislators switched their loyalties to congress-led camp severing ties with the BJP-led political formation.

Three legislators including Atanasio Monserratte (United Goans democratic party), Churchill Alemao (Save Goa Front) and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco (SGF) withdrew from BJP-led GDA and extended their support to Congress-led coalition.

The political happenings had transformed the Kamat government from minority to majority in the 40-seat state legislative assembly. Fernandes had resigned on July 25 night, the evening which saw Kamat government running into minority.

Sources confirmed that Fernandes moved an application before speaker on August 15 seeking his permission to withdraw her resignation. She had resigned from Congress party alleging humiliation.

Fernandes, a parliamentary secretary in Digamber Kamat cabinet, was vying for ministerial berth and had even resorted to indefinite hunger strike a while before the cabinet was sworn in.

Fernandes was an important part of the 21-legislator delegation which met President of India Pratibha Patil expressing their support to the BJP-led formation.

She could not be contacted for her comments though legislature secretary T N Druvakumar stated that her resignation is with the speaker and he will have to take a final decision in the matter.

Meanwhile, the speaker is hearing a disqualification petition filed against Fernandes by her own party legislator Chandrakant Kavlekar.
