Singapore's emeritus senior minister calls on Modi


Singapore, Nov 24 (IANS): Singapore's emeritus senior minister Goh Chok Tong called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, the second day of the latter's bilateral visit to this city state.

"A true ambassador of #IndiaSingapore ties. Emeritus senior minister Goh Chok Tong calls on PM @narendramodi," Vikas Swarup, spokesperson of the external affairs ministry, tweeted.

Goh served as Singapore's second prime minister from 1990 to 2004.

Following his arrival in Singapore from Malaysia on Monday, Modi delivered the 37th Singapore Lecture during which he highlighted the stellar role Goh played in deepening India-Singapore ties.

Earlier on Tuesday, Modi called on Singaporean President Tony Tan Keng Yam following a ceremonial welcome at Istana, the presidential palace.
